Are You One of Them?

Are you one of them? Seriously, are you? Lonely and isolated, we can miss all the warning signs. People are struggling, hurting and feeling the impact of the isolation of this pandemic. Are you one of them?

Throughout this Covid crisis, I have been concerned about much more than just physical health. As a Registered Nurse with a PhD in counseling, I am deeply concerned about people’s mental and spiritual health. People are hurting. Suicide rates are escalating. Self-harm and alcoholism have risen dramatically. Courts are overwhelmed with increases in divorce.

Lock downs may have helped curb the spread of Covid-19. However, they have created an unparalleled mental health crisis. Every age group is affected. Rates of death by suicide have eclipsed death by Covid in some age groups. People are really hurting. Are you one of them?

What is the answer? Faith. Yes, faith. We need a spiritual revival in America. But Billy Graham is dead! Luis Palau, touted by some as Billy Graham’s successor, just died too. Is all hope lost? NO WAY! Because Jesus Christ is very much alive!

Yes, Jesus is very much alive. And it is time to celebrate. Easter, Resurrection Sunday, is once again upon us. And we need it. We need the hope and power found in the Gospel message of the resurrection of Christ.

The Gospel message has incredible hope for YOU. Yes, YOU. The motivation behind the life, death and resurrection of Christ is centered on YOU! God loves you so much that He gave His one and only Son to die for you.

You might think you are too insignificant. God doesn’t think so. I believe that even if you were the only one who ever messed up, God would have sent Jesus just for YOU! Yes, YOU. God really does love YOU.

At times, you might feel you have messed up too badly for God to love you that much. God didn’t make a mistake loving you just the way you are. He knew exactly what He was getting. He paid the ultimate price for you as the prize!

Yes, Jesus died for you. But, He also rose from the dead. His resurrection makes power available for you to really live. Right here and now, God wants to give you an abundant life. Jesus said, “Because I live, you shall also live.”

To experience God’s blessing of abundant life, you need to connect with God. There are three important ways to do that. The first is prayer. Talk to God about how you feel and what you need. Surrender your heart and life to Him. Second, read His love letter to you, the Holy Bible. Start in the Gospels and read for yourself the truth about Jesus’ life.

Finally, you need to get back into church. It is time to celebrate the resurrection of Christ. We do that on Easter, Resurrection Sunday. But it doesn’t end there. Every Sunday is a resurrection celebration for believers. Christ is Risen… He is Risen Indeed!
